We just had a real rainstorm. It lasted five minutes, but what can you expect. It was honest rain and even hail, with a lot of wind. The Monsoons have not yet evaporated.

There has been trouble with some type of caterpillar. They ate one whole walnut tree outside the Altar Bread building, and have moved on to the pecan tree in the dog yard. The Holy Father has asked for a day of fast and prayer on Saturday. So we moved our Friday soup-and-bread lunch to Saturday, and included in our Celebration of Word and Communion a prayer for global respect and quiet negotiation. Ah me, if only…

We look forward to our community retreat in October. Dom Brendan, the former abbot of New Melleray in Iowa, will be our retreat director. We really appreciate the break and the opportunity to breathe in the atmosphere of quiet.

Now that you have met our friend Lupita, we would like to introduce her companion in the Altar Bread work, Bernie. Bernie finishes up the mixing when we bake, and helps with the mailing.

We are so blessed with our helpers.

Until the next time, your sisters send love and prayers.
