Happy and blessed Thanksgiving to one and all! From our monastic family here we send out our warmest wishes for a day of family, friends and a celebration of all God’s good gifts! We have just finished our Thanksgiving Feast provided by our dear friend and dentist Dr. Escobar. We hope all of you have had a wonderful day.Today also happens to be our Sister Clare’s birthday and instead of a birthday cake, she had pumpkin pie. She is not complaining. Our brothers of the monastery of Erlac joined us for our festive meal as well as Sr. Denise of our monastery of Wrentham, MA. It has been a lovely, happy day.

We are still in the afterglow of our retreat with Dom Gerard of our monastery of the Genesee. From Nov. 12-19 we enjoyed days of prayer, solitude and the excellent conferences of Dom Gerard. The weather cooperated by being sunny, warm and absolutely gorgeous. It was wonderful to lay aside our daily work and enter in holy leisure. Just to be able to sit and observe our comical ravens who waddle about under our pecan and walnut trees, gathering nuts and breaking them open with their beak to enjoy the meat, is enough to entertain for a good while. In fact, as I write this, there is one right outside the window, scouting about for another tidbit to enjoy. What incredible, intelligent birds they are. We feel blessed to have them about.

Tomorrow it is back to work as usual. We can go back refreshed from our family day together. And certainly well-fortified by our turkey with all the trimmings. From all of us to all of you: Happy Thanksgiving! honor of the day. We hope that it will be a joyous and safe day for all.
